The following applies here at BERNDES: Optimum health – for people and nature. Sustainability is increasingly finding its way into BERNDES products, and is now an integral part of our DNA. And where does this manifest itself? Pots and pans are made from recycled materials, all the while maintaining a consistently high level of quality. We already produce many pans from 100 % secondary aluminium. This not only conserves resources and the environment, but also saves significant amouts of energy. When manufacturing and packaging our products, we reduce waste, avoid the use of plastic wherever possible and give packaging a second use. We also rely on short distances thanks to a network of regional suppliers. We are happy to use the resources right on our doorstep – such as pan handles made from Sauerland ash wood that originate from a small turnery near Meschede. And nature has also lent us a helping hand with some innovations: The new b.nature non-stick coating consists of the natural mineral quartz, among other things. It is not only free from harmful substances such as PFAS, but also scores top marks for its durability, significantly extended non-stick properties and optimum heat transfer, which enable energy-efficient cooking and outstanding performance in the kitchen. Our responsibility For a sustainable approach to our world Thankfully, more and more people are becoming aware that we need to treat our environment responsibly. Many people make an effort in their daily lives to buy locally, avoid unnecessary car journeys or buy unpackaged food as much as possible and store it in sustainable containers to save on plastic waste. Our products are also an essential part of everyday life, which is why we at BERNDES have been working for years to ensure that our cookware is produced in a sustainable and resource-saving way. We have already achieved this in many areas. Many of our products are made from 100 % recycled aluminium cans. Our completely plas- tic-free and therefore PTFE-free b.nature coating now maintains its non-stick properties twice as long as before which is four times longer than comparable ceramic coatings. We have even been able to make improvements to handles where there are certain limits to the material composition to ensure safety and heat resistance. In the future, these will also be made of 50 % sustainable materials. We are also taking an increasingly minimalist approach, considering whether each pot really needs its own lid and each pan its own handle. Our tried-and-tested “Vario Click” series and our new “b.perfect” series only require one handle for all pans. Our lids can be used with different models and also help to save energy! All our lids also fit other commercially available products that are the same size. Yet another BERNDES contribution to sustainability and a good, green conscience. And wherever possible, our pans and pots reach the customer in a cardboard box or a practical cotton bag. Above all, we attach great importance to the selection of raw materials. For quality-related reasons, but also because we are committed to a better future. When BERNDES launched the first cast aluminium pan with non-stick coating in 1976, it was seen as a milestone in the history of cooking. Thanks to its excellent heat conduction and storage properties, aluminium is still considered an excellent material for the manufacture of cookware. Robust and durable, it also scores highly in terms of its sustainability. At least at BERNDES, because we choose to dispense with primary aluminium in the manufacture of an increasing number of products, thus avoiding the associated environmental damage: Most of our pans are manufactured exclusively from recycled beverage cans, with a consistently high material quality. Ultimately, what does recycling translate into here? 7 tonnes of CO2 saved per tonne of processed aluminium – 95 % less energy consumption – o toxic waste during ore processing – no aluminium waste that pollutes the environ- ment. Pro It clicked for us The Vario Click series is particularly popular in our PRO cookware. Not only is it capable of providing optimal cooking properties on all hob types, whether it be induction, gas, electric, glass ceramic or halogen, the removable handle also means that the pan can be quickly slid into the oven to give the dish a finishing touch. Cast iron pots and pans were used by our grandmothers and, if well looked after, our grandchildren can do the same. Of course, our b.iron series is also largely made of recycled material, which is essential for BERNDES’ claim to sustainability. Cast iron also stores heat for a long time and releases it evenly, which can save a lot of energy when cooking. Our b.iron products are perfect for braising. True Multi-Talents Transformer BERNDES frying pans are real all-rounders! They are perfect for browning and braising food on the hob as well as for cooking dishes in the oven.
