Ever since our founder Heinrich Berndes revolutionized the cookware market more than 100 years ago with the first non-stick cast aluminum range, our customers have known and value the fact that we never rest on our laurels and are constantly thinking innovatively and improving our products. You can read exactly how on Page 9. We at BERNDES firmly believe that it pays to constantly review your skills and expertise, as this is how you can improve and grow. With b.green, our cookware meets exceptionally high sustainability standards, making this prod- uct range a hallmark of BERNDES’s environmental protection values. We’ll tell you what this means in concrete terms in this brochure. 4 Sharing responsibility In recent months, we have all come to realize just how vital it is for us all to save energy. Even in our technologically advanced times, we cannot take it for granted that we’ll always have all the energy we need. On the contrary, if we want to continue to enjoy all our modern-day comforts and conveniences in the future, it is essential that we think more carefully and act more sustainably in all aspects of our daily lives. Some things are obvious, and also work in our favor: Cargo bikes often transport food purchased locally home more efficiently than some cars, for example. Many people are increasingly taking steps to avoid wasting food, instead using it up or swapping it, and no longer expect produce to look perfect. After all, that slightly misshapen organic apple from next door tastes way better than any perfectly shaped, perfectly polished apple from the other side of the world. Of course, it’s nice to be able to prepare and enjoy more exotic food in your own home, but why do vegetables and fruits that are also grown here need to be transported from halfway around the world? We can all do our bit toward a green future These are things that are relatively easy for us to see and understand, which makes it easier for us to change our habits. For other everyday things, however, it’s not quite so clear-cut. Is my tableware sustain- able? How and where was the pot produced? For our BERNDES prod- ucts, we can answer these questions clearly and confidently. Since we’ve been striving to make our production activities increasingly sustainable for a number of years now, we’re always proud to talk about our supply chains and processing operations. Ökoprofit stands for "Ecological Project for Integrated Environmental Technology" and is a program that assists companies in making their operational processes more environmentally friendly. Short distances: Main manu- facturing and transportation in the EU Our path to tomorrow For us at BERNDES, thinking and acting sustain- ably is not just about our food choices, but, of course, starts with what we make our food in – namely our cookware. That’s why we’re always striving to keep our transport routes as short as possible, i.e. to pro- duce our products predominately within the EU. We use recycled materials in all of our products, and today even 100 % recycled pure can alumi- num in some. In the future, all our handles and grips will be made from at least 50 % sustainable mate- rials. Much of our packaging is already 100 % plastic-free and, thanks to clever processing, reusable, e.g. as stacking protection or storage boxes. The majority of the coatings we apply today are plastic-free, and also facilitate efficient, energy-saving cooking. The certified, sustain- able materials that our high-quality products are made from also make them ultra-durable and robust. 8 How can I cook sustainably & energy-efficiently? Put a lid on your pot! With a tight-fitting lid, less hot air will escape, which means that everything in the pot will heat up faster. Use the right size pots and pans! If the pot is too big, more air than food will be heated up. Which hotplate you use on your stove can also make a difference. If the hotplate is too small for the pot, the heating process will take much longer; if it is too big, an unnecessary amount of energy will be wasted. Turn the stove off earlier! The residual heat stored in your cookware will allow the food to continue to cook after you’ve turned the stove off. Choose quality over cheap products! High-quality cook- ware may be more expensive to buy, but it will last much longer, and thereby save production resources. Steam-cook your food instead of boiling it! No special steamer pan required; all you really need is a tight-fitting lid and less water.

This three-layer coating has always been extremely resistant, and has now been further reinforced, which can even be seen in the roughened surface. This makes it so resilient that even metal kitchen utensils will not damage it. What’s more, it is completely free of harmful substances and manufactured with zero carbon emissions. A safely manufactured, resource-saving product that’s sure to guarantee perfect cooking enjoyment. b.nature – non-stick redefined Our patented b.nature coating has been plastic-free right from the word go, i.e. free from PTFE and BPA and consisting of a mineral quartz coating instead.
